I soar without wings, I see without eyes. I’ve traveled the universe to and fro. I’ve conquered the world, yet I’ve never been anywhere but home. Who am I?

I have to communicate with different people, and always keep them in the loop on important matters. I deal with a lot of buttons, knobs and numbers. I am surrounded by metal and I have a duty to carry humans with safety and comfort. Who am I?
